The Gardendale Rockets varsity baseball team got off to a strong offensive start Monday night against Pinson Valley, scoring 4 runs in the first inning and 11 runs through 3 innings to win 11-0 in a game that lasted 4 ½ innings.
The Rockets scored 11 runs off of 9 hits with a couple of errors, while holding Pinson Valley scoreless with 4 hits on the night.
Eli Moore started on the mound and pitched just over 4 innings. Moore allowed just 4 hits, a walk and 7 strikeouts. Caiden Combs came in to close the game out, throwing 9 pitches to 2 batters to end the game.
Bryson Barnes, Kyle Norris, Juan Pablo Morales and Grant Chandler all had a hit, and JD Salters and Combs had 2 hits each and 3 RBIs each.
The Varsity Rockets take a big area win and meet up with Pinson Valley again on 3/24 at Pinson Valley.
