Gardendale Varsity Softball scored in each of their first 3 innings, but the knock out blow came in the 2nd as a barrage of hits from the Rockets produced 6 runs.
The Rockets may be at their best with 2 outs, and the 2nd inning was evidence of that as they had a chain of hits capped by the homerun by Kara Jasper.
Ella Neal hit a solo shot homer in the top of the 3rd and the Rockets led 8-1 through 3.
Natalie Snow looked in complete control through most of the game. Snow struck out all 3 batters she faced in the bottom of the 4th.
Corner got some life in the bottom of the 6th and picked up 2 runs to get the game to 9-3, but it wasn’t enough.
Miya Covington and Allie Busbee had one hit each. Jasper, Snow, Kenley Vaughn, Catey Thomas and Neal all had multiple hits for the Rockets.
Gardendale wore purple ribbons in their hair during the game to honor GHS teacher, Melanie Jones, who lost her battle with cancer this week.
The Rockets get a break before playing again in Springville on April 5th.
