Rockets Earn Playoff Berth in Wins Over Clay-Chalkville

Logan Fitzgerald was in control of the first game of a double-header on the day against Clay-Chalkville. Fitzgerald went all 5 innings, allowing just four hits and no runs with 6 strikeouts in a 10-0 Rockets win.

Kyle Norris, Juan Pablo Morales and Connor Hensley all had a hit for Gardendale. Ty McGraw went 2 for 2 to lead the Rockets. The Rockets 10 runs came on just 5 hits as Clay-Chalkville chalked up 4 errors.

The big inning for Gardendale came in the 3rd inning where the Rockets put up 6 of their 10 runs.

Nick Rigdon, Bryson Barnes, Norris, Morales, McGraw, JD Salters and Grant Chandler all had RBIs for the Rockets in the game 1 win.

The Rockets needed 6 innings to take game 2 against the same Clay-Chalkville team in a 11-1 win.

Both teams were scoreless through the first 2 innings and then Gardendale got their offense going with 1 run in the 3rd, 2 in the 4th, 3 in the 5th and put the game away with a big 5 run 6th inning.

Gardendale pitcher, Bubba Wood, went the distance for the Rockets, tossing a 1-hitter and giving up 1 run with 5 strikeouts.

JD Salters, Kyle Norris, Juan Pablo Morales, Ty McGraw, Connor Hensley and Jackson Burdette all contributed a hit for the Rockets as Grant Chandler lead the Rockets going 2 for 4.

Salters, Norris and Hensley lead the Rockets with 2 RBIs each.

Gardendale will meet Mortimer Jordan next week in a series that will decide what team is 1st and 2nd in the area which will also decide who will host the 1st round of the playoffs.
