For 17 years, the State of Alabama has held the Annual Back to School Sales Tax Holiday. The cities of Gardendale, Fultondale and Warrior will be participating this weekend in the event that helps alleviate some of the tax burden for families buying everything from certain clothing, computers, school supplies and books.
According to Gardendale Mayor Stan Hogeland, the City of Gardendale has participated every year since he was first elected as Mayor in 2012.
The eligible items covered under the sales tax holiday are limited by type and dollar amount in some cases. A list of items exempt from sales taxes can be found here.
The sale runs from Friday, July 15th through Sunday, July 17th.
In the case of Gardendale, Fultondale and Warrior, state sales tax savings will be coupled with city sales tax savings.
