The Gardendale City Council declared 7 local properties a public nuisance for lack of lawn and weed control at the October 4th meeting.
The city public works department will now cut the lawns and the city will charge the homeowners. Liens are also attached to each property. Collectively, the charges for the city to step in adds up to $2,642 with liens.
The costs range from $260 to $490 per property.
Resolution 2022-120 was approved to declare 2759 Rhody Dr. a public nuisance and the city fixed the cost of mowing at $490.00.
Resolution 2022-121 was approved to declare 500 Parks Rd. a public nuisance and the city fixed the cost of mowing at $490.00.
Resolution 2022-122 was approved to declare 301 Jackson Ave. a public nuisance and fixed the cost of mowing at $392.00.
Resolution 2022-123 was approved to declare 276 Garden Dr. a public nuisance and fixed the cost of mowing at $260.00.
Resolution 2022-124 was approved to declare 1400 Cherry St. a public nuisance and fixed the cost of mowing at $260.00.
Resolution 2022-125 was approved to declare 1308 Columbia Ave. a public nuisance and fixed the cost of mowing at $490.00.
Resolution 2022-126 was approved to declare 1013 Fulton Ave. a public nuisance and fixed the cost of mowing at $260.00
Homeowners were given an opportunity to speak at the council meeting as a public hearing. None came forward at the hearing.
