With the recent increase in pay for officers at the Gardendale Police Department, sources say it should be easier to grow the department at a time it is needed due to the growth of Gardendale.
The GPD recently announced the transition of Celena McCarty from dispatcher to officer.
Ms. McCarty will now work to graduate from the Northeast Alabama Law Enforcement Academy and then move on to completing the GPD Field Training Program.
We would expect to see more officers hired by the GPD in coming weeks.
