Several days of deep freezing temperatures wreaked havoc across North Jefferson and Gardendale’s Public Library fell victim to the blistering cold temps as well.
Gardendale Mayor Stan Hogeland confirmed to the Herald that water line pipes at the library froze and burst due to the prolonged freezing and that there was damage sustained at the library.
The extent of the damage is yet unknown as the Mayor and city workers will meet today to access damage and lay out the plan to move forward.
The library is closed and it has not yet been determined when it will be able to reopen.
