Obituary: Larry Walter Cranford

Larry Walter Cranford passed away peacefully on February 21, 2023. He had been doing what he loved the most, spending time with family. He will be remembered for his willingness to help, his friendly smile, his unending faith, and his love of engaging everyone in conversation.

Larry spent much of his life in and around the field of x-ray – first as a technician and then later as a sales associate and instructor. His favorite part of the job was people because his real passion was people. For Larry, it was all about relationships.

He loved getting to meet and connect with others and carried that over into his retirement. He was always invested in making and growing relationships with everyone he encountered.

Every day started with prayer and Scripture for Larry no matter how busy he became. He lifted friends and family and complete strangers up in prayer consistently. If you asked for prayer, he held you up in prayer until you told him it was no longer needed.

He is reunited with his wife of 43 years, Joy Alves Cranford.

He is survived by three children: Chuck (Kelly) Cranford, Kathy (Keith) Lang, and Dan (Melaura) Cranford; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be open to all on Sunday, March 5, from 12 pm to 2 pm at Guntersville Memorial Chapel, 1601 Henry St . Guntersville, Alabama, 35976 followed by Holy Communion from 2:00 to 2:30 for those who want to partake. The burial will follow at Calcedonia Cemetery (Turnham Cemetary) Sardis Road, Jefferson County, Alabama, 35071 at 4 pm followed by a meal at Calcedonia Baptist Church, 5438 Mt. Olive Rd, Gardendale, Alabama.
