PREP Roundup: GHS Varsity Softball & Soccer Notch Wins

Gardendale vs. Leeds (Varsity Softball): The Gardendale Lady Rockets hosted Leeds on Tuesday with a solid offensive showing. The Rockets had 11 hits and 13 runs in a 5 inning 13-3 win.

Gardendale scored in every inning they stepped to the plate, putting up 5 runs in the 1st, 2 runs in the 2nd, 4 in the 3rd and 2 runs in the 4th.

7 Rockets contributed to the hit parade, with Miya Covington continuing her strong play this season batting 2 for 3 with 2 RBIs. Sophie Gant went 2 for 3 with 2 RBIs.

Ella Neal was perfect at the plate, batting 2 for 2, including a homerun, and leading Gardendale with 3 RBIs. Anna Valentine and Maddy Tucker each also went 2 for 2 with an RBI.

Nattie Miles went 1 for 1 with a homerun. Lillie Piersol and Catey Thomas each had a hit and an RBI for Gardendale.

Gant got the start for Gardendale. She tossed 3 innings giving up 4 hits and 3 earned runs. Kendall Norman closed out the game with 2 innings pitched, allowing just 1 hit and no runs.

The Rockets improve to 17-7 on the season. Gardendale will travel to Moody on 3/22 for a 5pm start.

Gardendale vs. Minor (Varsity Soccer): The Rockets travelled to Minor on Tuesday in a one-sided game where the Gardendale offense proved to be too much for Minor in a 11-1 win.

The night saw 5 Rockets score goals with Wyatt Chandler leading Gardendale with 4 goals. Christopher Bean, Gael Chacon and Tanner Dill each scored 2 goals and Alonso Candido added 1 goal for the Rockets.

Gardendale stays at home on Thursday night as they welcome Center Point for a big area matchup with a 5pm start.
