Janelle Britt Brings TheraPlay Pediatric Sensory Gym to Gardendale

Successful Cullman business owner, Janelle Britt, recently opened a new location of her successful TheraPlay Pediatric Sensory Gym to Gardendale. TheraPlay is located in the same center as the Jefferson County satellite location at 651 Main Street, Suite 147.

We caught up with Ms. Britt to learn more about her and TheraPlay.

Tell our readers a little about you and your team and your journey to opening TheraPlay?

My name is Janelle Britt. I have been a Speech-Language Pathologist for almost 10 years. My career started out in the public school system where I was able to work at a self-contained school. I absolutely loved my time there and learned so much about the challenges our children and families face to access quality services. In 2019, my husband and I opened Theraplay Pediatric Sensory Gym in Cullman, Alabama. We offer pediatric speech and occupational therapy services to children ages birth through 18. We have a team of Speech-Language Pathologists, Occupational Therapists, and administrative staff that serve our community well.

What services does your practice offer and what do you feel has contributed to your success?

We offer habilitative speech and occupational therapy services. Our Speech-Language Pathologists treat a variety of diagnoses including but not limited to: speech sound disorders, global language disorders, fluency disorders, swallowing disorders, and pragmatic language disorders. Our Occupational Therapists work with children struggling with fine motor skills and development, behavior and focus, executive functioning, coping skills, and handwriting. I believe we have been successful because we have a highly trained staff that is truly passionate about helping others. The Lord has been so good to allow us careers in which we are able to directly impact children and their families.

Why did you choose Gardendale as the place to expand?

We are truly honored to join the Gardendale community! My husband and I became aware that there were limited services in the Gardendale area and began to research and talk to community members. Due to our success in Cullman over the past 3 years, we believed it was time to settle into another community that was underserved. We have been so excited to hear so many positive remarks about how our Gardendale location will fill a need that has been present for a long time. We look forward to creating relationships with the families and community members in Gardendale for years to come.

What are your plans for TheraPlay in the future?

We want to continue to go wherever the Lord leads us. We hope to continue to provide quality pediatric services to underserved areas in our state. We are blessed to have established our business in two wonderful communities like Cullman and Gardendale. We want to ensure our business’s success by continuing to hire highly qualified staff who care about making a difference in the lives of children and their families.
