Tesla Supercharger Nears Completion in Gardendale

Tesla owners will soon have a new outlet to charge their vehicles in Gardendale, as Tesla is nearing completion of a Supercharger station next to Santos Coffee that will be opening in the old Wendy’s location across the highway from Walgreens.

According to Tesla, just 15 minutes of charge time may give the driver another 300 plus miles on his or her drive.

Tesla has built a large framework of the Supercharger Stations throughout the United States. Business owners may apply to Tesla for the opportunity for Tesla to choose their location to build a Supercharger Station.

Tesla “Trip Planner” navigation alerts drivers of these Supercharger locations on their route, so the Superchargers attract business from owners of Tesla’s that may be travelling down I-65 and stop off in Gardendale to charge.

According to Tesla’s website for Supercharger hosting, the company looks for locations along major routes where those charging can grab something to eat or drink, use restrooms and perhaps have access to wi-fi while charging. Tesla also lists 15 Supercharger locations currently in Alabama. There are 3 in the Birmingham area, with one in Leeds, one downtown and another in Mountain Brook.

Gardendale would seem to be a very easy access place to stop and charge and should prove to be a popular location for Tesla owners.

The Tesla Supercharger Station should bring folks into Gardendale that may not stop otherwise and be good for local businesses.
