An early morning altercation around 12:35 am between two people staying at the Best Western hotel in Gardendale for work escalated into a shooting that resulted in the death of the victim.
According to Herald sources as well as the press release from the Gardendale Police Department, the two people involved were co-workers and staying at the hotel on business.
After shooting the victim, the suspect fled the scene and Gardendale. Due to solid police work and response time by the GPD, the suspect was apprehended with the help of the Tupelo Mississippi Police Department even as Gardendale police were still on the scene investigating.
Our sources confirm that the suspect and victim worked for an out-of-state company.
