The Gardendale City Council has been steadily funding various requests and projects at the City’s four local public schools and is set to continue that trend at tonight’s council meeting where they will vote to approve Resolution 2023-117 that will be used to purchase a new 15 foot aluminum canopy tent with the full color imprint “GHS Cross Country” for the GHS Cross Country Team.
The total cost for the new tent, if approved, would be $1,172.52.
Funding for the various requests and projects are paid out of the Ad Valorem Tax account that is commonly referred to as the 5-Mil Property Tax. This tax raises approximately 1 million dollars per year and can only be used for “public school purposes.”
