The Herald Welcomes 15 GHS Student Writers

Nurturing and encouraging students to embrace expressing themselves through writing is more important today than ever.

We are pleased to announce that we have partnered with Marlee Mitchell, the Chair of the English Department at Gardendale High School, to give her 15 creative writing students the opportunity to develop their skills by contributing stories to the Herald.

Marlee Mitchell has earned a reputation as an exceptional teacher and her students have embraced the opportunity under her direction and with editing and guidance from the Herald as well.

The first two stories by this fine group of young writers will come this week as they cover the GHS volleyball and football games.

As Editor & Publisher of the Herald, I am personally excited to participate in this project and to see the development of these student writers as they cover stories from their perspective.
