According to the new U.S. News & World Report rankings of Alabama schools and districts, Mortimer Jordan High School is ranked as the #2 high school within the Jefferson County School District and tops among North Jefferson high schools.
Mortimer Jordan is followed on the list by Gardendale High School (#3), Corner High School (#4) and Fultondale High School (#9). Shades Valley High School tops the list within Jefcoed.
According to U.S. News, their rankings are performance based, focusing on “state required tests, graduation and how well they prepare students for college.”
The report ranked 359 high schools in Alabama and 140 districts. 13 high schools were ranked within the Jefferson County School District.
MJHS ranked #124 out of 386 as to state high schools, while GHS ranked #131, CHS ranked #151 and FHS ranked #237.
