After years of no change to the number of patrol officer positions at the Gardendale Police Department, the City of Gardendale has now approved additional budget for the GPD to add three additional patrol officers to the Department.
Gardendale is in the midst of increased growth and development and increased criminal activity can follow growth for a city.
With roughly 16,000 residents in Gardendale, the increase from 21 officer positions to 24 will bring the number of patrol officers per 1,000 citizens at 1.5. Currently, the number is 1.3 per 1,000.
